Who We Are
Founded in 1981, North Stonington Christian Academy is an active ministry of the Second Baptist Church in North Stonington, Connecticut. The school is a partner with parents for a Christ-centered education which integrates faith and learning, training students spiritually, intellectually, physically, emotionally, and socially. Solid scholarship and character development are provided in a loving atmosphere to prepare students for leadership and service. The Bible provides the foundation for teaching, and students are encouraged to explore knowledge in light of Scripture.
With an enrollment of approximately 40 students, the Stillman Road campus accommodates two academic buildings. The lower building houses grades Pre-K through fourth grade (as well as the administrative offices). The upper building, housed in the main church building, includes grades five through twelve as well as the library and church offices.
The Academy offers a full day Pre-K program and a separate full day Kindergarten program. Both are geared toward learning, playing and exploring God’s Word and His Creation. All students enjoy a safe, creative, and structured academic environment where teachers take the time to ensure each child a personal learning experience. More importantly, teachers at NSCA are grounded in the Scriptures of God’s Holy Word and teach with a Christian world view.
In addition to a great spiritual and academic foundation, the student body takes part in art classes, music classes, library science, gym and chapel. Private piano and voice lessons are offered. Under expert coaching, the Academy also boasts a growing basketball team. Our school mascot is the eagle and cheers the team at our games.
Children from over thirty churches and many towns in Southeastern CT and Southern RI attend North Stonington Christian Academy. NSCA does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in its admission policies and programs. The school reserves the right to select students on the basis of academic performance, religious commitment, lifestyle choices, and personal qualifications, including a willingness to cooperate with the school and abide by its policies. Scholarship assistance is available to those who qualify.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;”
II Timothy 3:16
North Stonington Christian Academy
North Stonington Christian Academy is an independent Christian Academy operated as a ministry of the Second Baptist Church of North Stonington.
The Academy operates in accordance with the Policies and Statement of Faith of the church. A six member Board of Education elected by the church oversees the operation of the Academy.
North Stonington Christian Academy is a non-profit religious and educational institution, and thereby authorized to accept gifts for endowments or such other school purposes designated by the donor.
Although Second Baptist Church sponsors North Stonington Christian Academy, the church does not require attendance of students and their families. The students and families at NSCA come from numerous churches throughout the community. The Academy does encourage regular church attendance at a Bible preaching church. If your family does not have a regular church or are looking for a church family, Second Baptist welcomes you to come and worship with us.
Please contact Mrs. Wilkinson or call the church office at (860) 599-2077 if you would like more information on finding a church home or would like to know more about Second Baptist Church.
Our Statement of Faith
We believe in the plenary, verbal inspiration of the Bible as the only infallible authoritive Word of God, which is the supreme and final authority in faith and life.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood on the cross, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father where He intercedes as our High Priest and Advocate, and in His personal future return in power and glory.
We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he fell into sin, and that, because of sin, he is both physically and spiritually dead, and is thus separated from God.
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith, not as a result of works, and that all who receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again of the Holy Spirit, thereby becoming children of God.
We believe in the eternal security of the believer; that a person who is truly saved will never lose his salvation.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and lost–that the saved are saved unto the resurrection of life and the lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
We believe in the “blessed hope” which is the personal, imminent, pre-tribulational and premillennial coming of the Lord Jesus Christ for His Church.
NOTE: We recognize that not every parent who sends his or her children to North Stonington Christian Academy will share all of our convictions. It is very important, however, that parents and students recognize that attendance at the Academy is a privilege and not a right, and so are expected to conform to school policy.
Statement of Philosophy
The North Stonington Christian Academy is an extension of the ministry of Second Baptist Church, and adheres to the church’s Statement of Faith. The Academy’s purpose is to assist parents in the Biblical command to “train up their children in the way they should go” (Proverbs 22:6; Deut. 6:6-7). Together, the parent, the academy, and church provide a Christ- centered education that is dependent on the premise that all areas of learning must be taught from a Christian perspective.
The Bible provides the basis for interpreting every subject and school activity. The educational process is seen as a channel used by the Holy Spirit to bring the student to a personal faith in Jesus Christ and to train him in Godly living. The student will be taught Biblical principles so he may understand God’s plan for his life spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically, and socially.
THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM of the Academy is designed to provide a quality education for students who meet the admission requirements.
THE FOUNDATIONAL OBJECTIVES of the North Stonington Christian Academy are: To lead each student to accept Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and Lord.
To teach the Bible as the inspired, authoritative Word of God and assist students to apply Biblical principles to every aspect of life, leading them toward maturity in Christ (Colossians 1:28,29).
To help each student develop a lifestyle that is distinctly Christian in thought and action.
To encourage each student to strive for the highest academic achievement within his or her potential.
To promote physical fitness, good health habits, and wise use of the body as the temple of God.
To encourage positive self-esteem and instill a desire in each student to fully develop his unique God-given talents and interests.
To instill within each student a love of country and appreciation of our American heritage, “one nation under God.”
North Stonington Christian Academy is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International.

I was fortunate enough to attend NSCA as a teen and I am thankful that our son can go there now. I think the leadership is outstanding! The teachers have become extended family to us. The children certainly receive both quality academics and solid Christian principles at this school!
